Twin City musicians come to Oxford
40 singers and instrumentalists from Grenoble will arrive in Oxford in early May to perform Mendelssohn's St. Paul - the Conversion. The concerts, not only an exciting collaboration between choirs, will celebrate two hundred years since the birth of Mendelssohn. The first concert takes place on the 14 May in Dorchester Abbey, Oxfordshire at 8pm and the second in St. Mary and St. John's Church in Oxford on the 15 May at 5pm. It's the second leg of a tour which started when Oxford musicians joined in performances in Grenoble over Easter. It's a tremendously powerful, dramatic work with passages of great lyrical beauty and serenity.
In contrasting mood, soprano soloist Helen Maxey will sing Mozart's joyous motet Exultate Jubilate.
